Now, you really didn't think that I would go the whole year without writing about the fabulous Catherine Deneuve, did you?
Where does one begin????
One of France's greatest actresses--ever.
She's done 109 films.
I loved her in Les Parapluies de Cherbourg, Les Demoiselles de Rochefort, Peau d'Ane, La Sirene du Mississippi, Liza, 8 Femmes, ( to name a few) and I am dying to see her in Potiche (see embedded trailer below).
She was Yves Saint-Laurent's muse, she made five films and had a daughter with Marcello Mastroianni, was involved with Francois Truffaut, sang with Gerard Depardieu, Serge Gainsbourg, Malcolm McLaren, Joe Cocker, and Alain Souchon, designs glasses, shoes and jewelry, and has a perfume named after her. (To name a few achievements.)
She auditioned for and was turned down for the part of Francesca Johnson in The Bridges of Madison County. I love Meryl, oh yes I do, but I tingle at the thought of Ms. Deneuve playing Francesca to Clint's Robert Kincaid.
Oh, what a fabulous human!
Bon, gros bisous de Deneuve et a demain!
Love, Charley
