I have a great love for children's literature. I don't have any children of my own, but my bookshelves are covered with books for young readers. While I only have a few picture books (a couple vintage Dr. Seuss titles and Virginia Wolf by Kyo Maclear), I have a lot of middle grade fiction.
As many of you know, I collect fairy tale anthologies, but I also collect vintage editions of classic children's books.
I read a lot of book series as a child. Sweet Valley Twins and Goosebumps were my favourites. I wrote an article called "Why We Adore Book Series" for Quirk Books and I mentioned quite a few children's books in my "Books That Changed My Literary Life" post.
Some of my all-time favourite children's books:
- The BFG by Roald Dahl
- Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl
- Silverwing by Kenneth Oppel
- Watership Down by Richard Adams
- The Land of Stories by Chris Colfer
