2012 Quarry Unlimited - #13 Milwaukee Brewers Part 1

Coming in at #13 is the Milwaukee Brewers.  Most people are aware that the Brewers were an American League East team when 1986 Topps came out, and I think that is why my apathy for them continues to this day.  When I grew up watching baseball, the local team in my broadcast area was the Reds and the two teams with cable deals that I could watch were the Braves on TBS and the Cubs on WGN, all NL teams.  In the days before interleague play and ESPN's national broadcast, I rarely saw any American League teams play.  Even though the Brewers are rivals with two of those teams today, in the 80's the Brewers were just another team with a weird name like the Expos or the Mariners.  Looking back at the great scruffy-looking Brewers teams of the 80's, I do wish I had gotten to see them a bit more.  For now, let's take a look at the modern National League Brewers along with some trivia.

If I were a Brewers fan...

Title of the blog - Surviving Bernie's Slide

Favorite Player (current) - Aramis Ramirez

Favorite Player (all time) - Chris Bosio

Least Favorite Player (current) - Ryan Braun

Least Favorite Player (all time) - Bud Selig (not a player, but you get the idea)

2012 Milwaukee Brewers Total Cards = 47

I mentioned at the outset of this set that I was going to be making some color changes to the original 1986 Topps set.  There was a small preview of a considered change last week with the Braves, but I ultimately decided to keep them light blue even though it looked a bit strange.  As shown below, the Brewers were yellow in 1986 Topps, which made some sense then due to their yellow caps.  On their modern uniforms, yellow is gone completely and gold is barely there.  The Brewers are a dark blue team and I hope the change is accepted by both Brewers fans and card fans in general.

Thanx for reading.
