Julie Delpy

Julie Delpy is my hero. A beautiful, intelligent, witty French woman who makes her own films as: writer, producer, director, actress, editor, music and I am sure many other things that I am not aware of.

For many years she has been making films that are French, but mostly in the English language. That is great for Anglophone Francophiles!

One of my favorite Julie Delpy films is 2 Days in Paris. A melange of American and French culture, richly displayed with an often Woody Allen-esque sense of humor. Hysterical, actually. I love the way her Jewish American boyfriend neurotically reacts to the scrappy chic culture he encounters in Paris. For those who know the French well and those who are learning, this film will be greatly appreciated.



Julie Delpy is currently working on 2 Days in New York. Can't wait.

Another film of hers that should be coming soon to a theater near you that I recently saw in France is The Countess or Bathory. An intense true story of the Countess of Bathory.
