2012 Quarry Unlimited - #8 Seattle Mariners Part 1

#8 on the countdown brings us the team that I could see most likely becoming my #1 team should something happen to the Rockies (i.e. moved, contracted, etc.).  They could also easily fall into "the middle third of apathy" as well.  Seattle is just a confusing sort of team.  How does a team have four potential Hall of Fame players (prime Griffey, young A-Rod, prime Johnson, prime Martinez, plus Jay Buhner) and not get to a World Series?  If you add in Ichiro and King Felix, that is 6 potential Hall of Fame plaques with a Mariners cap .  That is both very impressive for the relatively young franchise and monumentally disappointing considering they are one of 2 franchises (along with the Expos/Nationals) to never appear in the World Series.  I would be willing to bet just about anything that they end up the last team standing for that ignominious honor.   For now though, the Mariners can be happy with occupying the #8 slot on this countdown.  Let's take a look at the first half of the team along with the usual trivia.

If I were a Mariners fan...

Title of the blog - Ruppert Jones' Locker

Favorite Player (current) - Kevin Millwood

Favorite Player (all time) - Edgar Martinez

Least Favorite Player (current) - Jesus Montero

Least Favorite Player (all time) - Alex Rodriguez

2012 Seattle Mariners Total Cards = 39 (tied with the Reds for the fewest cards)

The Mariners are the first team that we have come to that I thought about changing their colors, but didn't in the end.  I was considering making them the darker Royals blue or even green, but I think the light blue just fits them better.   What do you think?

Thanx for reading.
