Is by Hey Ocean! is one of my favourite albums. There’s something about the music that takes me back to a simpler time. It’s near impossible to listen to the songs and not be swept away by the lyrics and the melodies.

“Islands” is the perfect example of how music can tell a story of its own. Sure, the meaning may be different to everyone that listens – but isn’t that the case for any sort of literature?

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve relied on music to shape my fondest memories. I would sit alone in my room and listen to albums, discovering the little things I’d remember as I went through the tracks. This song reminds me of that time in my life, when everything seemed so simple – when life’s problems were always remedied by the words of a song.
