Velo'v

Velo'v = velo means bike in French and. well, you get the love part, right?

Velo'v was first started in Lyon. Fashioned after the Dutch perhaps, the city envisioned people leaving their cars at home and taking bikes to cut down on their carbon footprints and to keep fit. They placed Velo'v bikes to rent all over the city with an organized system of trucking bikes back and forth to ensure that there are always some available.

It was a hit, worked like a charm! Thousands of people use them each day. There are now bike lanes on many streets. You can sign up for a pass, just like a bus pass, or use your credit card at the Velo'v stand. (Attention American credit card holders, it won't work as your cards do not have the microchip in them.)

Paris now does it, Marseille and other cities in France as well.

If you haven't guessed by now, I am a very ecologically minded person. I love, love, love seeing the streets filled with bikes and less cars.

Yeah France! Good job!!

A demain et groses bisous!

Love, Charley
